Henri Jacques Guillaume Clarke letters and documents, 1808-1839.

Official letter to the Commission of Petitions, dated March 4, 1808, denying the request of M. Granet, ex-adjutant general and batallion commander, for an increase in pay, signed by Clarke as minister of war. Also, letter to a count, dated Sept. 6, 1813, in which Clarke expresses concern about his son-in-law's conduct in the Toeplitz affair, and comments on Austria's reluctance to ally itself with France. Documents consist of a promotion of M. Guilhaumont to the rank of lieutenant, dated Dec. 12, 1816, and an official record of Clarke's military service, dated Jan. 23, 1839.
